Use cases for temp cover function
Itâs mainly used by admins or managers in a few situations:
Checking changes you made: if you update something in an employeeâs profile, you can sign in as them to confirm it looks correct from their side.
Approving rotas when someone is away: for example, if a rota approver is on annual leave, you can temporarily sign in as them to approve rotas.
Troubleshooting issues: if an employee reports a problem, you can log in as them to see exactly what theyâre seeing and help identify the cause.
Guiding employees: it helps when explaining how to use features because you can view the same screens they do.

If you're a system owner or manager making changes to an employee, you can sign in as them and check your changes using the temp cover feature. This is also useful if a rota approver is on annual leave, as you can sign in as them and approve the rotas.
â ď¸Important: To be able to follow these steps, you need to have the Employment TemporaryCover permission. An admin can assign this permission to your role, post, or employment. If the employee has previous employments, you need to make sure that you selected the required employment.
Steps on how to sign in as another employee
To can sign in as another employee, follow the steps below:
Use the organisation search
to find and select the required employee.Click Employment then click Temp Cover and enter your name.
Set the cover start and end date for the temporary cover.
Click Save.
Click your name in the top right corner then click the employee's position.
When asked to confirm change employment, click Yes.
