In order to create a new rota variable which allows user input, you will need to ensure the variables tab is enabled and displaying on the main rotas screen. If the variables tab is not present, you will need to follow the below:

  1. Ensure the Tab-RotaDash-RotaVariables field setting is enabled and displaying on the system.

  2. Ensure you are assigned the permission titled Rota Variables - ADMIN ONLY.

To create the variable please follow the below steps:

1. You will need to navigate to and click into the Variables tab on the Rotas screen.
2. Within the Variables tab, you will see 4 drops down lists, you will need to decide where you would like the variable to appear:

  • Global is for all Sections or Subsections,

  • Custom is for a specific section or subsection only if you would like it across all sections, expand Global – Sections.

3. You will see a list of all of the current rota variables for all sections. Scroll down to the Inputs section and select the Add Input button on the right-hand side of the screen, a pop-up window should then appear on screen.
4. Within the pop-up window, complete the relevant fields such as order, name, hover text, unique name, display type and the check boxes to determine where the variable should appear in regard to rota status and if this is shown on the rotas.
5. Lastly, create a new rota without copying from previous week and the new variable you have set up should appear as an input field.
