The reason why you cannot see leavers or terminated employees on the system is because the filters aren't ticked to include all you need to do is follow the below steps:
Click My Team then click My team again.
Click on All employees then click Show Advanced Filters.
Scroll down on the left and click Status and select the All button.
Once you have ticked all the relevant filters, click the green Filter button.
