Grant another employee access to add permissions

You can give access to another employee so you can have a better permission management

Written by Relu

If a user is trying to give other members of staff additional permissions and receives the error message saying: To view this page SystemConfig/Permission/PostPermissionView_GetPaged, they will require additional permissions.

How permissions work

First of all, you can’t grant yourself permissions. The system blocks that for security reasons. So, if someone needs the ability to add or manage permissions, another user usually a manager or system owner has to add them for you.

Why this setup exists:

  • Security control: only trusted users can grant access to sensitive areas.

  • Role-based access: permissions are assigned based on job responsibility.

  • Layered permissions: access comes from post, role, and individual levels, so someone with the right authority needs to manage that.

In practice, this means:

  • A manager or admin assigns the required permissions to the employee’s post, role, or profile.

  • This keeps access aligned with their responsibilities and helps protect sensitive HR data.

⚠️Important: We would always suggest adding additional permissions to the relevant user's post. Only in certain circumstances, you would add these to the user's profile.

Add the required permissions

On the employee profile

To add these permissions, follow the below steps:

  1. Find the employee using the organisation search then click into it.

  2. Click Security and then click Permissions.

  3. Click Edit and search for the permission.

    • This is generally stated in the error message that appears.

  4. Search for Security Roles and add the different parts of the permission, so this could include the view and add.

📌Note: Complete a batch update. This will push through the changes instantly. No strikethrough means enabled, strikethrough means disabled.

On the post

  1. Click Admin Menu or Configuration, depending on your setup.

  2. Click Post Setup or Post Admin.

  3. Use the search bar to find the post you want to update.

  4. Click the post to open it.

  5. In the left menu, select Security.

  6. Click Permissions then click Edit.

  7. Search for the permission you want to add and select it.

  8. Click Save.

🤓Tip: Permissions assigned to a post are automatically inherited by all employees who hold that post.

After making changes, it’s recommended to run a batch update so the system refreshes the permissions.
