This date is used to calculate length of service, which can affect things like holiday entitlement if your system is configured to use the continuous service date for leave calculations so it's very important to be accurate.
⚠️Important: The continuous service date cannot be later than the employee’s earliest employment start date.
Reasons to change an employee's continuous service date
You can see below the most common reason why you would change
the continuous service date for an employee:
Previous employment with the organisation: for example, if someone left and later returned, their continuous service may go back to their original start date.
Transfer from another payroll or system: their historical service may predate their current employment record.
Correcting historical service: if the original start date was recorded incorrectly.
