You can add a secondment when an employee is temporarily assigned to a different post for a longer period for example covering maternity leave or working at another site for several months. It formally records that temporary role change.
Add a secondment
ā ļøImportant: Once a secondment has been added it cannot be cancelled, only reverted.
To add a secondment, follow the steps below:
Search for the employee by using the organisation search
then click their profile.Select Employment then click Position.
Click Secondment.
Add the start date in the Secondment Start field.
If you are aware of the end date for the secondment you can add it in the Secondment End field, although this is not a mandatory field.
This date will be automatically populated as the end date when reverting the secondment. If left blank you will need to add a date manually.
Select all the relevant details and click Submit.
Revert a secondment
To revert a secondment, follow the steps below:
Once added, an employee's secondment will not revert automatically on the day added in the Secondment End field. This will need to be done by following the steps below:
Search for the employee by using the organisation search
then click their profile.Click Employment then click Position.
Click Revert Secondment.
Check that the end date is correctly added in the Return Date field.
Click Return Secondment.
š Note: Once a secondment has been added it cannot be cancelled, only reverted. After reverting a secondment, this will show in the employee's Position History page and cannot be removed.
If you have added a secondment by mistake or need to cancel a secondment so that it doesn't show in the employee's position history, you need to contact us.
