You can make an absence class obsolete when you no longer want it used for new bookings, but you still need it to exist in the system for historic records so you don’t delete it.

You can make it visible again when you want it available for selection again for example, if it was a temporary change and you’re bringing the leave type back.

πŸ€“Tip: A common reason is to stop employees booking a specific leave type in Self Service without removing it entirely, you can unselect User Can Select or select Obsolete so only you, as a manager can add it for them.

To make an absence class obsolete, follow the below steps:

  1. Click Settings then click Module settings.

    • This is usually under the Configuration tab.

  2. Click HR then click into Absence class.

    • This will show a list of all absence classes.

  3. Click into the desired absence class.

  4. Select the Obsolete box, then the absence class will no longer be available for selection.

πŸ“ŒNote: If you unselect it, then the absence class will be available again for selection.
